Michael S. Pagliaro DVM
I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. and from a young age understood the importance of the bond between pets and humans. It is what drove me through eight years of college to become a doctor of veterinary medicine. I attended Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1989. My dislike of cold weather and snow originated from those years in Buffalo. I next attended Cornell University where I received my doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1993. Another four years of cold weather led me back south to New Jersey.
I moved to northern New Jersey upon graduation and accepted my first associate veterinary position at the Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital. During my two years here I was able to sharpen my clinical skills and was exposed to a heavy avian and exotic caseload. My next associate position was at the Brookside Veterinary Hospital in Bloomfield, N.J. This hospital provided a heavy surgical caseload and exposed me to a wide variety of more advanced surgical training. After two years here I relocated to the North Jersey Animal Hospital in Wayne, N.J. Here I was exposed to ultrasound and endoscopy, which allowed me to refine my medical diagnostic skills.
After getting married to my wife, Megan in 1997 we decided to make a move to central N.J. We moved to Howell and I took a position at the Manalapan Animal Hospital where I remained for five years. When the opportunity to become a practice owner of the Point Pleasant Veterinary Hospital presented itself, I made the move. I was and will always be grateful to Dr. Marz for giving me the opportunity to own such a fine practice and to entrust me with the care of his long time patients.
My family consists of my wife Megan, and our two children, Kristen and Anna. We also consider our pets, Pepsi a female Rottweiler, Darth and Chewy, our two cats as part of the family.
My interests outside of veterinary medicine include physical fitness, watching and participating in organized sports, with football and baseball the clear favorites. I am a licensed scuba diver and look forward to pursuing martial arts.
I look forward to spending the rest of my veterinary career at the Point Pleasant Veterinary Hospital. My goal is to continue to make our hospital a place where pets can receive a high level of care from people who truly cherish the human - animal bond.
